Ukrainian govt negotiating gasoline, diesel fuel supplies to Ukraine with global companies - PM Shmyhal

KYIV. March 13 (Interfax-Ukraine) - The Ukrainian government is in talks with the world's major companies on setting up new logistics chains for gasoline and diesel fuel supplies to Ukraine, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said.

"We are negotiating with the world's major companies for the supply of gasoline and diesel fuel, and we are setting up new logistics chains," Shmyhal said in his address on Saturday evening.

The prime minister also noted that in order to improve the provision of motor fuel the government had drafted a bill that would abolish the excise tax on fuel and cut the VAT rate from 20% to 7% for endorsing by the Verkhovna Rada. These measures are intended to stabilize prices and prevent shortages.

"We are also considering a proposal to lower VAT to 0% if the logistics costs of fuel suppliers increase," he said.
