Moscow's daily Covid-19 cases continue decreasing

MOSCOW. March 13 (Interfax) - Moscow medics have identified 1,437 new Covid-19 cases over the past 24-hour period, an almost 13% decline from the previous day, according to data published on the website of the Coronavirus Situation Monitoring Center.

As many as 1,437 coronavirus patients have been identified in the city in the past 24 hours, according to the website. Moscow reported 1,655 daily Covid-19 infections the previous day, the website said. The Russian capital has thus recorded a decline by 218 cases, or approximately 13%, in the 24-hour period.

As many as 199 people with Covid-19 have been hospitalized in Moscow over the past day, the Coronavirus Situation Monitoring Center website said.

Forty-nine coronavirus patients have died in Moscow over the past day, it said. The city's Covid-19 death toll has reached 42,161.

As many as 1,212 coronavirus patients have been discharged upon recovery in Moscow in the past 24 hours. Cumulatively, the number of recoveries in town has climbed to 2,522,435, the website said.

The cumulative number of Covid-19 cases recorded in Moscow was at 2,721,335 as of March 13.

The latest wave of coronavirus infections hit Moscow in January-February 2022. The surge in Covid-19 cases was associated with the spread of the Omicron coronavirus variant, which is more contagious.
