Ukraine receives over 450 tonnes of medicines worth over $10 mln - chief of Zelensky's office

KYIV. March 10 (Interfax-Ukraine) - The Ukrainian Health Ministry has arranged for the delivery of over 450 tonnes of medicines worth over $10 million from Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, the United Kingdom, Israel, and Denmark, as well as international organizations, such as the World Health Organization (WHO), the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF), and Doctors Without Borders, chief of the Ukrainian presidential office Andriy Yermak said.

Two major international organizations, i.e. Caritas and the Support for Ukraine's Reform for Governance (SURGe) carried out by Alinea International Ltd. with support from the Canadian government have joined efforts to help Ukraine, he said.

"Jointly with the Georgian embassy and the Caritas organization, the delivery of cargo has been started for addressing the people's needs applying to the Assistance platform, including through its hotline. The Caritas organization has shipped its first aid to Odesa, Zaporizhzhya, Dnipro, and Kyiv," he said.

Ukraine is receiving assistance from Teva, Bayer, Novo Nordisk, Pfizer, Nestle, Medtronic, Sanofi, Eric, Biopharma, Stada, Farmak, Galexis (Switzerland), the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation, and the German clinic Ernst von Bergmann, Yermak said.

Denmark has provided Ukraine with 19 ambulances, he said.

As of March 9, 81.2 million hryvni, 906,000 euros, over $604,000, and some 6,800 pounds were transferred to the humanitarian account at the National Bank of Ukraine, the office said.
