Bill submitted to Duma proposes calling up protesters against use of Russian forces abroad

MOSCOW. March 4 (Interfax) - A group of Russian State Duma deputies has submitted a bill on calling up those held liable for taking part in unpermitted protests against the use of Russian forces abroad.

"The bill proposes that persons held liable for participating in unpermitted public events against the use of the Armed Forces be called up for doing military service in the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics," an explanatory note to the bill submitted on Thursday says.

"Some people in our country disagree with the conducting of the military operation and are ready to break the law to have it stopped [...] spreading knowingly false information on the course of the operation, trying to discredit our Armed Forces and the country's political leadership, encouraging sanctions on Russia, and committing other unlawful deeds, that is, acting essentially against the establishment of peace and security in the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics," it says.

"It appears that these persons must see with their own eyes what the Kyiv regime has done to these republics," it says.

The bill has been submitted by parliamentarians Andrei Lugovoy and Yaroslav Nilov of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDPR).
