Belarusian referendum complies with SCO norms - mission head

MINSK. Feb 28 (Interfax) - The constitutional referendum in Belarus was held consistent with national laws and norms of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), members of the SCO observation mission said at a press conference on Monday.

"There have been no complaints or criticism at polling stations," mission head Kazybek Kochkonov said.

According to the mission, the referendum on Belarusian constitutional amendments complied with the law and international obligations of Belarus.

"The entire voting period was calm, the atmosphere was amicable, and there was no amassment of voters, external interference or tensions," Kochkonov said.

The referendum was open and transparent, and there were no questions about the work of commissions, he said.

Belarus held the referendum on constitutional amendments on February 27.
