Russia values friendship, fraternal relations with Kazakhstan - Mishustin

NUR-SULTAN. Feb 25 (Interfax) - Russia highly appreciates the friendship and partnership with Kazakhstan, and bilateral cooperation is developing in many areas, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said.

"We sincerely appreciate the friendship, partnership and alliance with Kazakhstan; there are truly fraternal relations between our countries. We have a very substantive bilateral agenda and a vast potential for work in practically every area," Mishustin said at a meeting with Kazakh Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov on Thursday.

"I am pleased to say that trade and economic cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan have been quite successful," Mishustin said.

The trade turnover demonstrated an all-time high growth in 2021, Mishustin said. Russia and Kazakhstan are considering cooperation in green energy and peaceful uses of atomic energy and have a potential for cooperation in industries, energy and transport, he said.

Achievements in the field of investment deserve a special mention, Mishustin said. Russian businesses are participating in over 30 major projects in Kazakhstan, and the number of such projects keeps growing, he said, adding that the intergovernmental program of comprehensive economic cooperation in 2021-2025 serves as the basis for new initiatives.
