Military-political situation in Europe nearing dangerous line - Deputy FM Grushko

MOSCOW. Jan 26 (Interfax) - The European security evolution process has reached a dangerous line and it would be necessary to resume global security efforts, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko said on Wednesday.

"In fact, the process of evolution of the military-political situation in Europe and the world has reached a line that requires the most energetic efforts so that the world could step back from this dangerous brink," Grushko told reporters at the State Duma.

"Our proposals drafted by the Russian president pave the way for moving in the right direction not only in the provision of Russia's national security, which is our fundamental objective" but also in the resumption of "global security efforts and the account of security interests of the others," Grushko said. In the end, "that will allow sparing resources for the achievement of peaceful targets and the implementation of the agenda on the global policy horizon," he said.

"We are confident that the peaceful potential of our initiatives will be unlocked and supported," Grushko said.
