Russia registers 21,073 new cases of Covid-19, 926 deaths in past 24 hours - HQ

MOSCOW. Dec 30 (Interfax) - Russia has registered 21,073new cases of Covid-19 and 926 deaths in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Thursday.

"Over the past day, 21,073 Covid-19 cases were confirmed in 85 regions of Russia, including 1,718 asymptomatic cases identified proactively (8.1%)," the headquarters said.

According to the headquarters, there were 2,661 new cases of Covid-19 in Moscow, 1,532 in St. Petersburg, and 977 in the Moscow region in the reporting period.

In the past 24 hours, 926 patients died from Covid-19 across Russia, mostly, in Moscow (71), St. Petersburg (60), and the Moscow region (50).

Since the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic in Russia, it has registered a total of 10,479,344 cases of Covid-19, including 307,948 deaths and 9,423,227 recoveries, including 43,004 persons discharged from hospital over the past day, 2,495 of them in Moscow.

The Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor) said on Thursday that Russia has performed more than 240 million Covid-19 diagnostic tests to date, including 457,000 over the past day. As many as 1,298,563 people remain under medical observation.
