Talks about production of Sputnik V vaccine in Syria underway - Russian parliamentarian

MOSCOW. Dec 21 (Interfax) - Talks about production of Russia's Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine in Syria are underway, Sergei Gavrilov, chairman of the State Duma Committee on Natural Resources, Property and Land Relations, said.

"It is important to start producing our Sputnik V vaccine in Syria. Such talks are already underway," Gavrilov told Interfax on Tuesday.

The amount of Sputnik V doses supplied by the Russian Defense Ministry is insufficient to conduct the nationwide vaccination against coronavirus in Syria, he said.

Gavrilov is a member of a delegation paying a visit to Syria. The delegation is led by Dmitry Sablin, coordinator of the group for the State Duma's cooperation with the Syrian parliament.
