Saakashvili hails supporters' plans to hold protest on his birthday

TBILISI. Dec 13 (Interfax) - Former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili, currently in jail, has welcomed plans of the opposition United National Movement to hold a protest in Tbilisi on December 21.

"We are in for days and weeks that will be very active and full of surprises," Saakashvili said in a message to his supporters published on social media on Monday.

The ex-president said that this protest is very important to him personally and expressed hope that a large number of people will take part in it.

Saakashvili turns 54 on December 21.
