Russia registers 31,096 new cases of Covid-19, lowest number since mid-Oct, 1,182 deaths in past 24 hours - HQ

MOSCOW. Dec 7 (Interfax) - Russia has registered 31,096 new cases of Covid-19 and 1,182 deaths in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Tuesday.

"Over the past day, 31,096 Covid-19 cases were confirmed in 85 regions of Russia, including 2,231 asymptomatic cases identified proactively (7.2%)," the headquarters said.

The daily morbidity has been slowly decreasing in Russia, and the minimal number of infections since the middle of October, 31,096, were reported on Tuesday.

There were 2,573 new cases of Covid-19 in Moscow, or 18% fewer than on Monday, as well as 2,381 infections in St. Petersburg and 2,208 in the Moscow region. Both constituent territories are seeing a downward morbidity curve.

Over the past day, 1,182 people died from Covid-19 across Russia, primarily in Moscow (94), the Moscow region (52), and St. Petersburg (51).

Since the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic in Russia, it has registered a total of 9,864,845 cases of Covid-19, including 283,644 deaths and 8,565,091 recoveries, including 34.615 persons discharged from hospital over the past day, 2,969 of them in Moscow.

The Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor) said on Tuesday that Russia has performed more than 228.8 million Covid-19 diagnostic tests to date, including 337,000 over the past day. As many as 1,678,285 people remain under medical observation.
