Russia registers 40,123 new Covid-19 cases, 1,235 related deaths in past 24 hours - HQ

MOSCOW. Nov 12 (Interfax) - Russia has registered 40,123 new cases of Covid-19 and 1,235 related deaths in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Friday.

"Over the past day, 40,123 Covid-19 cases were confirmed in 85 regions of Russia, including 3,466 asymptomatic cases identified proactively (8.6%)," the headquarters said.

Following a decline in morbidity levels at the beginning of this week, Russia has seen two consecutive days of over 40,000 infections. The most cases were reported from Moscow (5,183), St. Petersburg (3,421), and the Moscow region (2,726) in the past 24 hours.

There were 1,235 deaths from Covid-19 in the reporting period, mostly in Moscow (96), St. Petersburg (75), and the Moscow region (51).

Since the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic in Russia, it has registered a total of 8,992,595 cases of Covid-19, 252,926 deaths, and 7,720,962 recoveries, including 33,645 persons discharged from hospital over the past day, 6,952 of them in Moscow.

Russian consumer health watchdog Rospotrebnadzor said on Friday that Russia has performed more than 215.6 million Covid-19 diagnostic tests to date, including 714,000 over the past day. As many as 1,953,466 people remain under medical observation.
