Russia registers 40,759 new cases of Covid-19, 1,237 deaths in past 24 hours - HQ

MOSCOW. Nov 11 (Interfax) - Russia has registered 40,759 new cases of Covid-19 and 1,237 related deaths in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Thursday.

"Over the past day, 40,759 Covid-19 cases were confirmed in 85 regions of Russia, including 3,494 asymptomatic cases identified proactively (8.6%)," the headquarters said.

The daily morbidity has grown by 2,701 from 38,058 cases recorded on Wednesday. Moscow reported a 58% growth in coronavirus infections, from 3,927 on Wednesday to 6,240 on Thursday.

There were 3,230 new cases in St. Petersburg and 2,617 in the Moscow region.

In the past 24 hours, 1,237 patients died from Covid-19 in Russia, most of them in Moscow (94), St. Petersburg (85) and the Moscow region (56).

Since the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic in Russia, it has registered a total of 8,952,472 cases of Covid-19, including 251,691 deaths and 7,687,317 recoveries, including 33,156 persons discharged from hospital over the past day, 5,505 of them in Moscow.

The Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor) said on Thursday that Russia has performed more than 214.9 million Covid-19 diagnostic tests to date, including 661,000 over the past day. As many as 1,957,979 people remain under medical observation.
