New state armaments program should focus on hypersonic systems, AI, robotics - Putin

MOSCOW. Nov 10 (Interfax) - The new state armaments program should focus on hypersonic systems, weapons using new physical principles, artificial intelligence, and robots, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.

"Obviously, it is important for us to thoroughly take into account all main global tendencies in the development of military hardware in work on the new armaments program. In particular, this includes the introduction of advanced information and biocognitive technologies, it's focus on promoting hypersonic systems and weapons using new physical principles, the latest intelligence, navigation, communication, and command systems," Putin said on Wednesday at a meeting of the Russian Military-Industrial Commission, which is being held by videoconference.

He also spoke about the need to boost the functionality and combat stability of military hardware, including through artificial intelligence and the broad use of robotic technologies.

"These are tracks that will have a decisive effect on the prospective appearance and combat potential of our armed forces," Putin said.
