Russia registers 39,160 new Covid-19 cases, new all-time high of 1,211 deaths - HQ

MOSCOW. Nov 9 (Interfax) - Russia has registered 39,160 new cases of Covid-19 and a new all-time high of 1,211 deaths in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Tuesday.

"Over the past day, 39,160 Covid-19 cases were confirmed in 85 regions of Russia, including 3,200 asymptomatic cases identified proactively (8.2%)," the headquarters said.

Russia has seen a new record number of 1,211 deaths from Covid-19. The number of deaths recorded daily began to grow in late September almost simultaneously with the new surge in coronavirus infections.

The most patients have died in Moscow (95), St. Petersburg (88), and the Moscow region (62).

The same regions have reported the highest numbers of daily cases. There were 5,287 new cases of Covid-19 in Moscow, 2,818 in the Moscow region, and 2,680 in St. Petersburg.

Since the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic in Russia, it has registered a total of 8,873,655 cases of Covid-19, 249,215 deaths, and 7,619,596 recoveries, including 32,036 persons discharged from hospital over the past day, 7,257 of them in Moscow.

Russian consumer health watchdog Rospotrebnadzor said on Tuesday that Russia has performed more than 213.8 million Covid-19 diagnostic tests to date, including 373,000 over the past day. As many as 1,991,117 people remain under medical observation.
