Russia registers 39,008 new cases of Covid-19, new all-time high of 1,178 deaths in past 24 hours - HQ

MOSCOW. Nov 2 (Interfax) - Russia has registered 39,008 new cases of Covid-19, which is fewer than on Monday, and a new all-time high of 1,178 deaths in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Tuesday.

"Over the past day, 39,008 Covid-19 cases were confirmed in 85 regions of Russia, including 3,136 asymptomatic cases identified proactively (8.0%)," the headquarters said.

There is yet another all-time high of 1,178 deaths from Covid-19, as against 1,155 reported on Monday. Most patients died in Moscow (98), St. Petersburg (83), and the Moscow region (49).

Meanwhile, the daily morbidity has reduced by 1,394 to 39,008 over the past day.

Moscow continues to report the highest growth in infections, but it is also down by 1,367 to 5,736 cases reported on Tuesday. There were 3,066 new cases in St. Petersburg and 2,893 in the Moscow region.

Since the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic in Russia, it has registered a total of 8,593,200 cases of Covid-19, including 240,871 deaths and 7,412,631 recoveries, including 30,905 persons discharged from hospital over the past day, 6,359 of them in Moscow.

The Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor) said on Tuesday that Russia has performed more than 210.1 million Covid-19 diagnostic tests to date, including 435,000 over the past day. As many as 2,005,081 people remain under medical observation.
