Russia registers 36,582 new cases of Covid-19, new all-time high of 1,123 deaths in past 24 hours - HQ

MOSCOW. Oct 27 (Interfax) - Russia has registered 36,582 new cases of Covid-19 and a new all-time high of 1,123 deaths from Covid-19 in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Wednesday.

"Over the past day, 36,582 Covid-19 cases were confirmed in 85 regions of Russia, including 3,055 asymptomatic cases identified proactively (8.3%)," the headquarters said.

The Covid-19 death toll has been growing in Russia since September 24 practically on a daily basis, and a new all-time high of 1,123 deaths was reported on Wednesday, as against 1,106 on Tuesday. Most deaths were reported from Moscow (91), St. Petersburg (74), and the Krasnodar Territory (42).

Meanwhile, the daily coronavirus morbidity has been on a relative decline for two consecutive days since the record number of 37,930 cases of Covid-19 seen on October 25. There were 36,446 new infections on Tuesday.

The largest number of infections was reported from Moscow (5,789), St. Petersburg (2,913), and the Moscow region (2,670).

Since the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic in Russia, it has registered a total of 8,352,601 cases of Covid-19, including 233,898 deaths and 7,242,735 recoveries, including 29,151 persons discharged from hospital over the past day, 4,471 of them in Moscow.

The Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor) said on Monday that Russia has performed more than 206.3 million Covid-19 diagnostic tests to date, including 557,000 over the past day. As many as 1,911,402 people remain under medical observation.
