Putin expects leaders of UNSC member states to gather for summit

SOCHI. Oct 21 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has said he is hoping that the leaders of UN Security Council member states will hold a summit.

"If we talk about my initiative on holding a meeting of heads of state of the five permanent UN Security Council members, everyone upheld it in principle, and it could be done. There were problems not associated with Russia but around some debate inside these five. And then, this pandemic soon began and everything became more complicated," Putin said when speaking at a Valdai Club session on Thursday.

"The very idea was met in a quite positive way, and I hope that this meeting will someday take place. This will surely be good," he said.
