Russia sees all-time daily high of 34,325 Covid-19 cases - HQ

MOSCOW. Oct 18 (Interfax) - Russia has recorded another all-time high number of daily cases of coronavirus, 34,325, over the past 24 hours, and 998 patients with coronavirus have died in this period, the coronavirus operative response headquarters said in a statement on Monday.

"Russia has recorded 34,325 new confirmed coronavirus cases (Covid-19) in 85 regions over the past 24 hours, including 2,821 (8.2%) cases identified proactively without any clinical symptoms manifested," the headquarters said.

Russia has registered record-high daily numbers of Covid-19 cases every day since October 14. Sunday saw 34,303 newly-identified cases.

Cases started steadily growing nationwide since the last third of September, but that increase was not as dramatic as has been in October.

Daily cases are growing in all regions of Russia, with the highest numbers recorded in Moscow (6,823), St. Petersburg (3,097), and the Moscow region (2,768, which is the highest-ever number of daily cases for the region).

As many as 998 coronavirus-related fatalities have been confirmed nationwide over the past 24 hours, including 69 in Moscow, 67 in St. Petersburg, and 38 in the Krasnodar territory and the Nizhny Novgorod region each.

The cumulative number of new coronavirus infection cases recorded in Russia over the entire period of the pandemic has reached 8,027,012, with 224,310 related deaths and 7,017,055 recoveries, including 16,431 recoveries over the past 24 hours alone, among them 3,237 in Moscow.

Specialists have carried out more than 201.2 million tests for Covid-19 in Russia during the pandemic, including some 551,000 tests over the past 24 hours, according to Russian public health and consumer rights watchdog Rospotrebnadzor.

As many as 1,674,690 people remain under medical supervision nationwide.
