Russia views Cuba as primary economic partner in Latin America despite Covid-19 - Deputy PM Borisov

HAVANA. Oct 13 (Interfax) - Cuba ranks among primary economic partners of Russia in Latin America, and bilateral contacts retain positive dynamics despite the coronavirus pandemic, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yury Borisov said while paying a working visit to Havana on the orders from President Vladimir Putin.

"The intensity of bilateral contacts, including those maintained on the summit level, demonstrates a trust-based, constructive nature of the dialogue between our countries. Such dynamics persists despite the economic realities induced by the pandemic. Cuba ranks among primary foreign economic partners of Russia in Latin American and the Caribbean," Borisov said at a meeting with Cuban Deputy Prime Minister Ricardo Cabrisas.

Despite the severe situation created by the coronavirus pandemic and the tightening U.S. embargo on Cuba, the strategic partnership with Cuba remains an invariable priority of Russia, he said.
