Russia willing to help Europe overcome energy crisis, but believes EU should act reciprocally - Lavrov

MOSCOW. Oct 8 (Interfax) - Russia is willing to help Europe overcome the energy crisis, but it believes the European Union should also make some reciprocal steps, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.

"In the current situation, as the prices for hydrocarbons, especially natural gas, and for electricity have grown dramatically in EU countries, it's obvious that we should cooperate much more closely and much more systemically in this sector," Lavrov said at a meeting with members of the Association of European Businesses in Russia on Friday.

Russia "is willing to help Europe overcome this crisis, but Europe should also acknowledge the need for some steps on its part," he said.
