Russia registers 21,559 new cases of Covid-19, new all-time high of 852 deaths in past 24 hours - HQ

MOSCOW. Sept 28 (Interfax) - Russia has registered 21,559 new cases of Covid-19 and a new all-time high of 852 deaths in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Tuesday.

"Over the past day, 21,559 Covid-19 cases were confirmed in 85 regions of Russia, including 1,709 asymptomatic cases identified proactively (7.9%)," the headquarters said.

The daily coronavirus mortality spiked to 852 over the past day, up 73 from 779 deaths reported on Monday. This is a new all-time high of deaths from Covid-19 in Russia: the previous all-time high of 826 deaths was recorded on September 24.

Most patients died in Moscow (63), St. Petersburg (58), and the Sverdlovsk region (40).

Meanwhile, the daily coronavirus morbidity is down 677, from 22,236 new cases reported on Monday.

Since the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic in Russia, it has registered a total of 7,464,708 cases of Covid-19, including 205,531 deaths and 6,635,485 recoveries, including 17,368 recoveries over the past day, among them 1,886 in Moscow.

The Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor) said on Tuesday that Russia has performed more than 190.5 million Covid-19 diagnostic tests to date, including 309,000 over the past day. As many as 1,272,307 people remain under medical observation.
