Russia registers 18,841 new Covid-19 cases, 792 deaths in past 24 hours - HQ

MOSCOW. Sept 15 (Interfax) - Russia has registered 18,841 new cases of Covid-19 and 792 related deaths in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said on Wednesday.

"Over the past day, 18,841 Covid-19 cases were confirmed in 85 regions of Russia, including 1,391 asymptomatic cases identified proactively (7.4%)," the headquarters said.

There were 17,837 new coronavirus infections in Russia the day before.

In the past 24 hours, 792 patients have died from Covid-19 across Russia, and the most deaths were recorded in Moscow (49), St. Petersburg (38), and the Sverdlovsk region (38). Meanwhile, 17,039 patients have been discharged from hospitals upon recovery.

According to the headquarters, Moscow has reported 1,838 new cases of Covid-19 and 1,430 recoveries over the past day.

Since the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic in Russia, it has registered a total of 7,194,926 cases of Covid-19, including 195,041 deaths and 6,435,072 recoveries.

Russian consumer health watchdog Rospotrebnadzor said on Wednesday that Russia has performed more than 184.6 million Covid-19 diagnostic tests to date, including 353,000 over the past day. As many as 1,123,140 people remain under medical observation.
