Russia registers 18,380 new cases of Covid-19, 794 deaths in past 24 hours - HQ

MOSCOW. Sept 9 (Interfax) - Russia has registered 18,380 new cases of Covid-19 and 794 related deaths in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said on Thursday.

"Over the past day, 18,380 Covid-19 cases were confirmed in 85 regions of Russia, including 1,375 asymptomatic cases identified proactively (7.5%)," the headquarters said.

In the past 24 hours, 794 patients died from Covid-19 across Russia, the majority of them in Moscow (52), the Sverdlovsk region (34), and the Krasnodar Territory (31).

Meanwhile, 19,639 patients have been discharged from hospitals upon recovery.

According to the operative headquarters, Moscow reported 1,801 new cases of Covid-19 and 1,461 recoveries in the past 24 hours.

Since the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic in Russia, it has registered a total of 7,084,284 cases of Covid-19, including 190,376 deaths and 6,340,151 recoveries.

The Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor) said on Thursday that Russia has performed more than 183.3 million Covid-19 diagnostic tests to date, including 422,000 over the past day. As many as 1,129,592 people remain under medical observation.
