'Akademik Chersky' pipe-laying vessel completes work on Nord Stream 2, trunkline 99% ready
MOSCOW. July 28 (Interfax) - The "Akademik Chersky" pipe-laying vessel has completed the originally planned scope of work on the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, the Nord Stream 2 AG project company said in a statement.
"Consequently, the gas pipeline is 99% completed as of today," the builders noted.
"The Fortuna pipe-laying barge is continuing to work on the final section of the project," the project company added.
Gazprom is constructing Nord Stream 2 with its own resources since the Switzerland-based contractor ceased work owing to sanctions on the part of the United States. The Nord Stream 2 offshore gas pipeline, with capacity of 55 billion cubic meters per year, runs from the Slavyanskaya compressor station in the Kingisepp district of Russia's Leningrad Region to the Baltic coast of Germany.
