Russia sees 23,032 daily Covid-19 cases, 779 related deaths over past 24 hours - coronavirus response HQ

MOSCOW. July 27 (Interfax) - Russia has recorded 23,032 new cases of Covid-19 and 779 related deaths over the past 24 hours, the coronavirus operative response headquarters reported on Tuesday.

"Russia has recorded 23,032 new confirmed coronavirus cases (Covid-19) in 85 regions over the past 24 hours, including 2,129 (9.3%) cases identified proactively without any clinical symptoms manifested," the headquarters said.

As many as 779 patients with coronavirus have died and 20,116 have recovered nationwide over the past 24 hours.

The city of Moscow alone has recorded 2,623 daily cases of Covid-19, which is the lowest figure since the end of May. This figure is roughly comparable to the 2,614 daily cases seen in Moscow on May 31.

In addition, the number of coronavirus-associated deaths in Moscow has gone down to under 100 for the first time over the past month, with 98 such deaths recorded over the past 24 hours. Another 4,912 people in Moscow have recovered from Covid-19 in this period.

The Moscow region with 1,973 cases of Covid-19 recorded in the past 24 hours and St. Petersburg with 1,923 are still among the regions with the highest numbers of daily cases.

The cumulative number of new coronavirus infection cases recorded in Russia since March 2, 2020, when the first Covid-19 case was detected in the country, has reached 6,172,812, with 155,380 related deaths and 5,526,950 recoveries.

Specialists have carried out more than 163.2 million tests for Covid-19 in Russia during the pandemic, including some 323,000 tests over the past 24 hours, according to Russian public health and consumer rights watchdog Rospotrebnadzor.

As many as 1,270,854 people remain under medical supervision nationwide.
