Russia records 23,811 daily cases of Covid-19, 795 related deaths - HQ

MOSCOW. July 23 (Interfax) - Russia has recorded 23,811 new cases of Covid-19 and 795 related deaths over the past 24 hours, the coronavirus operative response headquarters reported on Friday.

"Russia has recorded 23,811 new confirmed coronavirus cases (Covid-19) in 85 regions over the past 24 hours, including 2,495 (10.5%) cases identified proactively without any clinical symptoms manifested," the headquarters said.

After the number of new cases of coronavirus slightly grew on Thursday, it again went under 24,000 on Friday, while the number of related deaths remained rather high, as 795 patients have died over the past 24 hours. The highest numbers of deaths have been recorded in Moscow with 107, St. Petersburg with 68, and the Irkutsk region with 35.

As many as 22,547 patients earlier diagnosed with Covid-19 have recovered and been released from hospital nationwide.

The city of Moscow alone has seen 3,425 new cases of Covid-19 and 7,010 recoveries over the past 24 hours.

The Moscow region has recorded 1,965 and St. Petersburg 1,940 new cases of Covid-19 over the past 24 hours.

The cumulative number of new coronavirus infection cases recorded in Russia over the period of the pandemic has reached 6,078,522, with 152,296 related deaths and 5,450,004 recoveries.

Specialists have carried out more than 161.4 million tests for Covid-19 in Russia during the pandemic, including some 551,000 tests over the past 24 hours, according to Russian public health and consumer rights watchdog Rospotrebnadzor.

As many as 1,243,858 people remain under medical supervision nationwide.
