U.S. fears China may economically outperform it by 2030 - Russian GRU chief

MOSCOW. June 23 (Interfax) - The United States does not like Russia's significant role in international affairs and China's growing might, Chief of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GRU) of the Russian Armed Forces Igor Kostyukov said.

"The White House is not comfortable with a 'dynamically developing Russia' which is playing an ever more significant role in international affairs," Kostyukov said at the Moscow Conference on International Security.

"The U.S. leadership also fears that the People's Republic of China, whose might keeps growing, is able to economically outperform the United States and to considerably increase its technical and military potential by 2030," he said.
