Russia registers 17,378 new Covid-19 cases, 440 deaths in past 24 hours - HQ

MOSCOW. June 21 (Interfax) - Russia has registered 17,378 new cases of Covid-19 and 440 related deaths in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said on Monday.

"Over the past day, 17,378 Covid-19 cases were confirmed in 84 regions of Russia, including 2,664 asymptomatic cases identified proactively (15.3%)," the headquarters said.

In the past 24 hours, 8,361 patients have been discharged from hospitals upon recovery, and 440 patients have died from Covid-19 across Russia.

Moscow reported 7,584 new cases, in addition to 79 deaths and 3,098 recoveries.

Following Moscow are the Moscow region (1,811 cases) and St. Petersburg (1,046).

Since the coronavirus epidemic began in Russia on March 2, 2020, it has registered a total of 5,334,204 cases of Covid-19, including 129,801 deaths and 4,878,333 recoveries.

Russian consumer health watchdog Rospotrebnadzor said on Monday that Russia has performed more than 145.7 million Covid-19 diagnostic tests to date, including 383,000 over the past day. As many as 617,550 people remain under medical observation.
