Over 60 Russians willing to leave Gaza Strip return home aboard emergencies ministry plane

MOSCOW. May 27 (Interfax) - A Russian Emergency Situations Ministry plane at Cairo International Airport picked up Russian citizens evacuated from the Gaza Strip on their own volition, the Russian embassy to Egypt said on Facebook.

"In accordance with Russian President Vladimir Putin's instruction on evacuating Russian citizens willing to leave the Gaza Strip, a large group of our fellow citizens (64 people) was transported across the Palestinian-Egyptian border. This step was prompted by the military confrontation with Israel and the humanitarian crisis caused by it," the embassy said.

The evacuated Russian citizens arrived at Cairo International Airport where they boarded the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry's plane, which left for Moscow early on Thursday morning.
