Russia registers 9,232 new cases of Covid-19 and 396 deaths in past 24 hours - HQ

MOSCOW. May 20 (Interfax) - Russia has registered 9,232 new cases of Covid-19 and 396 related deaths in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement.

"Over the past day, 9,232 Covid-19 cases were confirmed in 84 regions of Russia, including 1,330 asymptomatic cases identified proactively (14.4%)," the headquarters said.

The daily coronavirus morbidity is up 1,312 from 7,920 new cases of Covid-19 reported in Russia on Wednesday, the headquarters said.

In the past 24 hours, 9,983 patients were discharged from hospitals upon recovery, and 396 patients died from Covid-19 across Russia.

According to the headquarters, Moscow reported 3,312 new cases of Covid-19, along with 55 deaths and 2,877 recoveries on Thursday.

Since the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic in Russia on March 2, 2020, it has registered a total of 4,974,908 cases of Covid-19, including 117,361 deaths and 4,591,770 recoveries.

The Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor) said on Thursday that Russia has performed more than 134.6 million Covid-19 diagnostic tests to date, including 337,000 over the past day. As many as 498,363 people remain under medical observation.
