Security to be tightened in St. Petersburg due to UEFA Euro 2020

MOSCOW. May 17 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree to ensure security during events part of the 2020 UEFA European Football Championship in St. Petersburg. The text of the decree has been published on the official web portal for legal information.

"Enhanced security measures shall be put in place from June 2 to July 12, 2021 in the territories of St. Petersburg and the Vyborg district of the Leningrad region, as well as in water areas adjacent to them, in light of the events of the 2020 UEFA European Football Championship," the decree says.

The decree also envisages forming an interagency operational headquarters to ensure security during the events of UEFA Euro 2020 in St. Petersburg.
