PM Mishustin hopes Covid-19 situation reaches turning point this year

MOSCOW. May 12 (Interfax) - A turning point should be reached in containing the novel coronavirus this year, as the domestic epidemiological situation has been gradually improving, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said.

"The situation has been gradually improving, although, of course, it is too early to talk about a full recovery. This year should see a turning point in the containment of the infection. This is our joint responsibility and joint work that doesn't stop for a minute," Mishustin said in an annual government report delivered at the State Duma on Wednesday.

Russia managed to avoid harsh restrictive measures at the heights of the pandemic, in fall 2020 and spring 2021, he said.
