RDIF to pay particular attention to investment in technologies and infrastructure - Dmitriev

MOSCOW. April 22 (Interfax) - The Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) will pay special attention to investments in technology and infrastructure, the head of the fund Kirill Dmitriev said.

"I would say that the two main such focuses are technology and infrastructure. Now we have the Russian Venture Company under our management, and we have created a joint fund with 10 leading business groups, which are members of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs. And we will channel more and more money into high-tech industries because Russia is certainly competitive here, and it is important to build companies here that operate not only in the Russian market, but are successful in the global market, and our network of partnerships can allow them to do that," Dmitriev said in an interview during the Pozdnyakov program on the NTV television channel.

"As far as infrastructure is concerned, we are one of the main investors in Russian infrastructure. This includes toll roads, airports, ports, and many elements of infrastructure. And we will continue to invest here, possibly using the National Wealth Fund," the RDIF head.

He said that the RDIF has already had successful experience in co-investing NWF funds in three projects - the construction of SIBUR's Zapsib-2 complex, "Bridging the Digital Divide" (together with Rostelecom ) and "Building Intelligent Networks," jointly with Rosseti.

"We believe that the National Wealth Fund should and can be used, but certainly on a revenue basis, and we have shown by example how this can be done," Dmitriev said.

"Precisely infrastructure as a class for investments - this is extremely promising, especially in the world, where a lot of money has been printed. Accordingly, the ownership of infrastructure is both a good investment and an opportunity to implement high-quality projects very important for the country," the RDIF chief.
