Gamaleya Center: 3.8 mln people in Russia have received 2 doses of Sputnik V vaccine

MOSCOW. April 19 (Interfax) - A total of 3.8 million residents of Russia have received both components of the Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine, Denis Logunov, deputy director for research work at the Gamaleya Research Center, said on Monday.

"A total of 3.8 million people have been vaccinated, have been entered in the database at least twice in Russia now," Logunov said at a meeting of the department of medical sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

Information on the effectiveness of the Sputnik V vaccine in circulation in Russia shows that it has reached 97.6%, which is higher than in the clinical studies, Logunov said. The data indicates effectiveness after 35 days from the start of vaccination, he said.

The Sputnik V vaccine has been registered in 60 countries. Six states have expressed a desire to produce it, Logunov said.

The Gamaleya Center's Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine was registered in August 2020.
