Putin sends Queen Elizabeth II condolence telegram after passing of her husband Prince Philip

MOSCOW. April 9 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has sent Queen Elizabeth II a telegram in which he expressed heartfelt condolences over the passing of her husband Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, the Kremlin press service said.

"Many important events in the modern history of your country are associated with the name of His Royal Highness. He was rightfully respected among the British people, as well as internationally respected," Putin said in the telegram.

Putin wished Elizabeth II courage and mental fortitude in the face of a grievous and irreparable loss and asked that words of sincere sympathy be passed along to all members of the royal family.
