Russia registers 9,150 new cases of Covid-19, 402 deaths in past 24 hours - HQ

MOSCOW. April 9 (Interfax) - Russia has registered 9,150 new cases of Covid-19 and 402 related deaths in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said on Friday.

"Over the past day, 9,150 Covid-19 cases were confirmed in 83 regions of Russia, including 1,198 asymptomatic cases identified proactively (13.1%)," the headquarters said.

Russia was seeing over 8,000 daily coronavirus infections since the beginning of the week, yet the daily number topped 9,000 again on Friday. The daily morbidity has been fluctuating between over 8,000 and over 9,000 since the middle of March.

Over the past day, 402 people died of Covid-19 across Russia, and 9,662 patients were discharged from hospitals upon recovery.

According to the headquarters, Moscow saw 2,421 new cases of Covid-19, 57 deaths and 1,989 recoveries in the past 24 hours.

Moscow reports the biggest number of coronavirus infections among Russian regions, while morbidity is the lowest in the Jewish Autonomous District, the Magadan region and Tuva (two cases in each) and there are no new infections in the Nenets and Chukotka autonomous districts.

Since the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic in Russia on March 2, 2020, it has registered a total of 4,623,984 cases of Covid-19, including 102,247 deaths and 4,248,700 recoveries, including 9,662 in the past 24 hours.

The Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor) said on Friday that Russia had performed more than 123 million Covid-19 diagnostic tests to date, including 340,000 over the past day. As many as 499,414 people remain under medical observation.
