Russia registers 8,672 new Covid-19 cases, 365 deaths in past 24 hours - HQ
MOSCOW. April 8 (Interfax) - Russia has registered 8,672 new cases of Covid-19 and 365 related deaths in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Thursday.
"Over the past day, 8,672 Covid-19 cases were confirmed in 83 regions of Russia, including 1,149 asymptomatic cases identified proactively (13.2%)," the headquarters said.
Over the past day, 365 people have died of Covid-19 across Russia, and 9,558 patients were discharged from hospitals upon recovery.
According to the headquarters, Moscow has seen 2,024 new cases of Covid-19, 55 deaths, and 1,746 recoveries in the past 24 hours.
Moscow reported the largest number of coronavirus infections among Russia's regions, while morbidity is the lowest in the Magadan region (three new cases) and the Jewish Autonomous District and Tuva (two each). There are no new infections in the Nenets Autonomous District or the Chukotka Autonomous District.
Since the coronavirus epidemic began in Russia on March 2, 2020, the country has registered a total of 4,614,834 cases of Covid-19, including 101,845 deaths and 4,239,038 recoveries.
Russian health watchdog Rospotrebnadzor said on Thursday that Russia has performed more than 122.6 million Covid-19 diagnostic tests to date, including 323,000 over the past day. As many as 497,753 people remain under medical observation.
