Russia registers 8,294 new cases of Covid-19, 374 deaths in past 24 hours - HQ

MOSCOW. April 7 (Interfax) - Russia has registered 8,294 new cases of Covid-19 and 374 related deaths in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said on Wednesday.

"Over the past day, 8,294 Covid-19 cases were confirmed in 84 regions of Russia, including 1,037 asymptomatic cases identified proactively (12.5%)," the headquarters said.

Over the past day, 374 people died of Covid-19 across Russia, and 9,445 patients were discharged from hospitals upon recovery.

According to the headquarters, Moscow saw 1,585 new cases of Covid-19, 51 deaths and 1,551 recoveries in the past 24 hours.

Moscow reports the biggest number of coronavirus infections among Russian regions, while morbidity is the lowest in the Jewish Autonomous District (three), the Chukotka Autonomous District (two) and Tuva (one). There are no new infections in the Nenets Autonomous District.

Since the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic in Russia on March 2, 2020, it has registered a total of 4,606,162 cases of Covid-19, including 101,480 deaths and 4,229,480 recoveries.

The Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor) said on Wednesday that Russia had performed more than 122.3 million Covid-19 diagnostic tests to date, including 249,000 over the past day. As many as 491,362 people remain under medical observation.
