Russia records 8,277 new Covid-19 cases, 409 related deaths in past 24 hours - HQ

MOSCOW. March 30 (Interfax) - Russia has registered 8,277 new coronavirus infection cases and 409 related deaths in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Tuesday.

"Over the past day, 8,277 Covid-19 cases were confirmed in 84 regions of Russia, including 1,007 asymptomatic cases identified proactively (12.2%)," the headquarters said.

The number of new Covid-19 cases has been exceeding 8,000 for two consecutive days, correlating to the figures recorded in late September 2020, when the coronavirus morbidity curve was rising in Russia. The epidemic is currently on decline.

Russia has also reported 409 related deaths and 9,588 recoveries in the past day.

Moscow is still recording the largest numbers of new Covid-19 cases daily, registering 1,291 new cases of the disease, 56 deaths, and 1,165 recoveries over the past day, the headquarters said.

The lowest numbers of cases have been reported in the Magadan region (two), Tuva (one), and no new Covid-19 cases in the Chukotka Autonomous District.

As of this date, since March 2, 2020, Russia has registered a total of 4,536,820 cases of Covid-19 (+0.18% over the past 24 hours), including 98,442 deaths and 4,155,996 recoveries.

The Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor) said on Tuesday that Russia has performed more than 119.9 million Covid-19 diagnostic tests to date, including 188,000 over the past day. As many as 486,378 people remain under medical observation.
