Russia registers 9,284 new Covid-19 cases, 361 deaths in past 24 hours - HQ

MOSCOW. March 22 (Interfax) - Russia has registered 9,284 new cases of Covid-19 and 361 related deaths in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Monday.

"Over the past day, 9,284 Covid-19 cases were confirmed in 84 regions of Russia, including 1,015 asymptomatic cases identified proactively (10.9%)," the headquarters said.

Russia has been recording over 9,000 new coronavirus infection cases per day for practically the past two weeks except for March 17, when 8,998 cases, the lowest since late September 2020, were registered. On the whole, coronavirus morbidity has been declining in Russia since the beginning of this year, following an all-time high of almost 30,000 new cases per day on December 24, 2020.

Over the past day, 7,790 patients have been discharged from hospitals upon recovery, and 361 patients have died from coronavirus.

Moscow has seen the majority of new Covid-19 cases, registering 1,586 on Monday, along with 56 deaths and 1,132 recoveries over the past day.

The least number of cases were reported from the Magadan region (3), the Jewish Autonomous District (2), and Tuva (1). There were no cases in the Nenets Autonomous District and the Chukotka Autonomous District.

Since the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic in Russia on March 2, 2020, the country has registered a total of 4,466,153 cases of Covid-19 (+0.21% over the past day), including 95,391 deaths and 4,077,185 recoveries.

Russian health watchdog Rospotrebnadzor said on Monday that Russia had performed more than 117.7 million Covid-19 diagnostic tests to date, including 274 over the past day.

As many as 482,160 people remain under medical observation.
