Russia sees 19,290 new Covid-19 cases, lowest figure since early Nov 2020 - HQ

MOSCOW. Jan 25 (Interfax) - Russia has registered 19,290 new cases of Covid-19, the lowest number of new cases since the beginning of November 2020, as well as 456 coronavirus-related deaths, in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said on Monday.

"Over the past day, 19,290 Covid-19 cases were confirmed in 84 regions of Russia, including 1,985 asymptomatic cases which were proactively identified (10.3%)," the headquarters said.

For the first time since early November 2020, the daily number of Covid-19 cases in Russia only slightly exceeded 19,000. There were 19,768 new coronavirus infection cases reported on November 4, 2020.

There have been 456 confirmed deaths in the past 24 hours, and 19,003 patients have been discharged from hospitals upon recovery.

Moscow has seen a steady decline in the number of coronavirus infections. According to the headquarters, Moscow has reported 2,382 new Covid-19 cases, 61 deaths, and 5,274 recoveries in the past 24 hours.

Following Moscow are St. Petersburg with 2,116 new Covid-19 cases and the Moscow region with 1,163.

As of this date, Russia has registered a total of 3,738,690 cases of Covid-19 (+0.52%), including 69,918 deaths and 3,150,763 recoveries.

Russian health watchdog Rospotrebnadzor said on Monday that Russia has performed more than 99.7 million coronavirus tests to date, including 335,000 over the past day. As many as 648,332 people remain under medical observation.
