Daily coronavirus numbers hit Russia's all-time high of 15,150 - HQ

MOSCOW. Oct 16 (Interfax) - Russia registered 15,150 new coronavirus cases and 232 deaths in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Friday.

"Over the past day, 15,150 Covid-19 cases were confirmed in 85 regions of Russia, including 4,031 active asymptomatic cases (26.6%)," the headquarters said.

The growth is still the steepest in Moscow, which reported 5,049 coronavirus cases on Friday.

According to the headquarters, 1,803 coronavirus patients were discharged from hospitals and 54 patients died in Moscow in the past 24 hours.

By now, Russia has seen a total of 1,369,313 coronavirus cases (+1.1%) in 85 regions, including 23,723 deaths and 1,056,582 recoveries, among them 8,485 patients discharged over the past day, the headquarters said.

According to the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor), Russia has performed over 52.7 million coronavirus tests, including 502,000 over the past day. As many as 292,893 people remain under medical observation.
