Lukashenko gets 80.1% of the vote, Tikhanovskaya gets 10.12% in Belarusian presidential election - CEC

MINSK. Aug 14 (Interfax) - The Belarusian Central Elections Commission (CEC) held a meeting on Friday to sum up the results of the presidential election.

"The commission approved the election results. Alexander Grigoryevich Lukashenko was elected president of the Republic of Belarus," the CEC said in a statement.

According to the approved results, Lukashenko garnered 80.1% of the vote, and Svetlana Tikhanovskaya garnered 10.12%.

The meeting was practically confidential: it was not announced, the press was not invited, and there was no video coverage.
