Belneftekhim confirms protests at Naftan, Grodno Azot, says production process continuing

MINSK. Aug 14 (Interfax) - The Belneftekhim concern has confirmed that workers of some of its enterprises are holding peaceful protests without making economic demands, but the production process is ongoing.

"Chairman of the Belneftekhim concern Andrei Rybakov will meet with Grodno Azot employees later today. A meeting with Naftan workers will be held by the enterprise administration," Belneftekhim press secretary Alexander Tishchenko told Interfax.

He noted that the demands made by protesters "are unrelated to labor conditions and do not have economic causes."

Tishchenko noted that the technological and production process was ongoing at the petrochemical enterprises. "These are high-risk production facilities, and personnel are well aware of that, so the technological process has not stopped," he said.

The administrations are also meeting with collectives of Mogilevkhimvolokno and Khimvolokno in Grodno, Tishchenko said.
