Russia registers 6,635 new Covid-19 cases, 174 deaths in past 24 hours - HQ

MOSCOW. July 10 (Interfax) - Russia registered 6,635 new coronavirus cases and 174 deaths in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Friday.

"Over the past day, 6,635 Covid-19 cases were confirmed in 85 regions of Russia, including 1,673 active asymptomatic cases (25.2%)," the headquarters said.

This is the highest number of new cases registered by Russia over the past consecutive days. Russia detected 6,736 cases on July 5, about 6,600 and 6,300 after that, and about 6,500 cases on two occasions. The daily mortality rate has been unchanged for three days straight.

The cumulative number of coronavirus cases in Russia has reached 713,936, including 11,017 deaths and 489,068 recoveries (among them 7,752 patients discharged from hospitals over the past day).

According to the operative headquarters, Moscow registered 637 new coronavirus cases, 28 deaths, and 1,007 recoveries in the reporting period.

The effective reproduction number (Rt) continued to decline in Moscow and reached 0.92 on Friday (0.94 the day before). The number slightly increased in Russia to 0.98 (0.97 on the previous day).

According to Rospotrebnadzor, Russia has performed a total of 22.3 million coronavirus tests, including 308,000 in the past 24 hours. As many as 278,410 persons remain under medical observation.
