Russia detects over 8,800 new coronavirus cases, 169 deaths in past 24 hours - HQ
MOSCOW. June 4 (Interfax) - Russia detected 8,831 new coronavirus cases and 169 deaths in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Thursday.
"Over the past day, 8,831 Covid-19 cases were confirmed in 85 regions of Russia, including 3,374 active asymptomatic cases (38.2%)," the headquarters said.
By now, Russia has reported 441,108 coronavirus cases, 5,384 deaths and 204,623 recoveries (including 8,666 patients discharged from hospitals over the past day). The number of active cases (the total number of cases minus all recoveries and all deaths) currently stands at 231,101.
A third of all patients have recovered by now. The number of new cases has grown a bit, compared with 8,536 on Wednesday.
According to the headquarters, Moscow reported 1,998 new Covid-19 cases, 64 deaths and 3,061 recoveries in the past 24 hours. The number of new cases has also slightly increased in Moscow: 1,842 new cases were registered the day before.
The effective reproduction number (Rt) stood at 0.9 in Moscow and 1.0 in Russia on Thursday.
