LPR forces holding exercise

LUHANSK. May 21 (Interfax) - The militia of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) is practicing military cohesion, LPR militia spokesperson Yakov Osadchy said.

"Units and formations of the militia of the Luhansk People's Republic are on high alert; they are practicing military cohesion at the republic's training ranges," Osadchy told the press on Thursday.

The LPR is committed to a peaceful settlement in Donbas, but is ready "to resolutely deter the enemy," he said.

The self-proclaimed Donbas people's republics said on Wednesday that their forces had been put on high alert to prevent an escalation on the Donbas contact line from the Ukrainian side.

On May 19, LPR head Leonid Pasechnik called on the Ukrainian government to stop the hostilities in the vicinity of Donbas infrastructure elements, or else the contact line "would be moved."
