Prominent Russian journalist, President of Global Energy Association Brilev writes exclusive article for Interfax

Dr Sergey Brilev, President of the Global Energy Association, has written an article exclusively for Interfax on the problems that are slowing the transition of countries to green energy and the generation of energy from waste against the backdrop of the trends of recent years and the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Global Energy Association is a private organization created by PJSC Gazprom, PJSC FGC UES and PJSC Surgutneftegas to popularize and support research and innovation related to energy and the development of energy cooperation. It awards the Global Energy Prize and has a youth program and a number of others under its discussion platform. 

Brilev was born in Havana in 1972. He graduated from Moscow State Institute of International Relations, the Institute of Foreign Languages of Montevideo, courses of BBC and the U.S. Agency for International Development. Brilev worked as a correspondent-intern in the department of science and education of the Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper and as a special correspondent of the international department of the Moscow News newspaper. Since 1995, he has been working at Russia TV Channel. He is the presenter of Vesti weekly news broadcast on Saturday and is the author of many documentaries and interviews with world leaders. Brilev also leads the Bering-Bellingshausen Institute in Uruguay.

Brilev was appointed the head of the Global Energy Association in February 2020.
