Irkutskenergo boosts electricity output by 8% in 2010
IRKUTSK. Feb 1 (Interfax) - OJSC Irkutskenergo's electricity stations increased electricity output by 8.1% in 2010 to 61.4 billion kilowatt hours, the company said in a statement.
Electricity output at the company's hydroelectric power plants (HPP) went up by 6.9% to 48.9 billion kilowatt hours and heat electricity stations - up 13.3% to 12.5 billion kilowatt hours.
Production of heat for consumers came to 23 million Gcal, which is equal to the results for 2009, the statement said.
Coal production went up by 21% to 14.6 million tonnes.
Irkutskenergo is Russia's leading coal energy company. The company includes heat and HPP stations, as well as heat grids, coal quarries, transportation enterprises, repair facilities and an enrichment plant. Irkutskenergo's installed capacity at its electricity stations comes to 12.9 gigawatts, include over nine gigawatts at its HPPs. Total production capacity at its quarries comes to 14.9 million tonnes of coal a year.
Irkutskenergo is controlled by Eurosibenergo, which is owned by the main shareholder in RusAl, businessman Oleg Deripaska. The state owns 40% of the shares in the company.
